College of Languages and Linguistics and Its Support for International Students
The College of Languages and Linguistics is dedicated to academic exchange and hosting students and researchers in various fields of language. The college provides them with special care and attention, especially since they are a target group within Saudi Vision 2030. The efforts of its departments align with King Saud University’s (KSU) vision of offering an exemplary model in supporting international students—from nomination and arrival in Saudi Arabia to graduation and their return as active members in their home countries.
King Saud University offers annual scholarships for international students from around the world. The scholarship program includes:
Free education
Free accommodation (based on marital status)
Monthly financial stipend
A free return ticket for international students during the summer vacation
Free healthcare at the university medical center
Access to the central library’s services and other student facilities
The International Students Administration is responsible for overseeing international students at KSU, ensuring their well-being from nomination and arrival in Saudi Arabia to graduation and their return to their home countries.
International Students in the Arabic Language Preparatory Program
This department provides Arabic language programs for non-native speakers, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s commitment to promoting multicultural education. Students from across the world—including Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Americas—enroll to learn Arabic as a second language.
The department’s goal is to train international students to become ambassadors of the Arabic language in their home countries. The curriculum focuses on:
Enhancing listening comprehension for lectures, general discussions, and news broadcasts.
Developing advanced speaking and writing skills for various academic and cultural contexts.
Strengthening reading skills in diverse fields.
Introducing students to aspects of Saudi culture.
The department offers two programs for non-native Arabic speakers:
The Intensive Program (Diploma Degree of Proficiency in Arabic Language for Speakers of Other Languages)
Designed for international students of all genders.
Consists of four levels, each lasting one semester.
Students attend 20 hours of weekly instruction.
The Non-Intensive Program
Aimed at non-Arabic-speaking residents of Saudi Arabia.
Includes:
Arabic for General Purposes courses.
Arabic for Special Purposes courses.
International Students in the Arabic Language Studies Department (Arabic as a Second Language)
This department offers four graduate programs at different academic levels (Postgraduate Diploma, Two Master’s Programs, and a Ph.D. Program). It welcomes international students from around the world to specialize in Arabic applied linguistics and related fields. The programs focus on:
Training international educators in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers.
Developing academic skills needed for Arabic language instruction.
Providing expertise in Arabic applied linguistics and research.

International Students in the French Language Department
The French Language Department offers scholarships for French-speaking students worldwide within its Master’s Program. International students enrolled in the graduate program represent various countries, including Mali, Benin, Burkina Faso, Yemen, and Togo. These students focus on translation studies and research between Arabic and French

The English Language Department at the College of Languages and Linguistics hosts 42 international students from Asia, Africa, and Europe. The department is committed to supporting their academic and educational needs.
