The Research Center of the College of Language Sciences

 

Brief Info

The Research Center serves as the College’s institutional arm for advancing research and innovation across theoretical and applied linguistics, translation, language education, and computational language technologies. The Center turns laboratory capacities and partnerships into measurable outcomes, indexed publications, citations, knowledge products, and community impact, within a governance and data-management framework that ensures quality and compliance.

A leading research platform that connects laboratories, partnerships, and data to transform linguistic knowledge into scientific and economic impact at the national and international levels.

To empower the College’s scholars and students to produce high-quality knowledge by activating laboratories, building strategic partnerships, developing a research and citation dashboard, and amplifying impact in line with national priorities and Vision 2030.

Strategic Objectives

·         Conduct a comprehensive survey of laboratory capabilities; adopt Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operations and safety; and raise laboratory utilization to 70% or higher.

·         Link 25% or more of courses to lab-based or digital research projects; increase the share of Scopus/Web of Science indexed publications to 60% or higher; and achieve 10% annual growth in citations.

·         Sign six internal partnerships annually and launch ten or more collaborative projects each year with entities specializing in languages and AI.

·         Activate four or more agreements with international university laboratories and deliver eight joint outputs annually (e.g., papers, datasets, tools).

·         File two or more intellectual property disclosures per year and launch at least one paid knowledge product or service with initial revenue not less than 100,000 (currency as applicable).

·         Launch a dashboard updated monthly with ≥95% data accuracy and issue four executive reports annually.

 

Work Streams

·         Prepare a laboratory catalog, implement an online booking system, provide technical safety training, and support equipment upgrades to close critical gaps.

·         Provide pre-submission peer review, editorial and methodological support, and monitor quality indicators.

·         Establish strategic partnerships with public and private sectors aligned with the Center’s research domains.

·         Build and maintain a performance dashboard featuring a unified data repository, researcher profiles, a KPI dictionary, and robust data governance.

·         Drive innovation through an Intellectual Property Clinic, electronic disclosure channels, conversion of outputs into MVPs, and specialized events and trainings.
