The Turkish Language Program:

Teaching languages is only a way to build bridges of communication between countries and people. It clearly indicates the extent to which those in charge of it realize the importance of opening up to others, exchanging knowledge and enhancing opportunities for cooperation in various fields, especially if this other(nation) has strong relations and common interests such as the Republic of Turkey.

Based on this and reflecting the leadership and excellence of King Saud University, a Turkish language program has been established under the umbrella of the College of Language Sciences. It is one of the unique and distinguished programs of the college, represented by King Saud University at the level of the Kingdom's universities. It is concerned with teaching and translating the Turkish language from and to it and qualifying national cadres equipped with the linguistic and cognitive skills necessary to meet the needs of the labor market. The program is limited in its approach to teaching the official language of the Republic of Turkey, which is a branch of the Turkish language whose geographical scope extends from the borders east of China to the south-east parts of Europe, and is spoken by nearly two hundred million people, and is an important tributary of Islamic civilization.

The importance of teaching the Turkish language in the Kingdom is highlighted on two levels. The first is that the history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is closely linked to the role of Ottoman documents related to the conditions of the Arab country, and it needs to be studied and translated. The second is the Republic of Turkey's close and diverse relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which calls for specialized competencies in the Turkish language that will facilitate the communication process at all levels. This is what has been achieved relatively since the date of the establishment of the program. Efforts to graduate competencies from the youth of the homeland have resulted in the vacancy of prestigious jobs in many government sectors such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Royal Court, security agencies, and in many companies in the private sector. The need still exists, especially in light of what our country is witnessing, an accelerated renaissance moving steadily in all directions towards a prosperous future for its children.
