About the Department:
The Department of Linguistics at King Saud University was established in 1432AH (2011AD) as one of the College of Languages and Translation departments( one of the departments of College of Languages and Translation) under the Department of Linguistics and Translation Studies. In 1444AH (2022-2023 AD), the department was renamed the "Department of Linguistics" after the restructuring of the college and changing its name to "College of Languages Sciences". In its new identity, the department seeks to provide advanced academic programs in linguistics that contribute to the preparation of specialists with the necessary knowledge and skills to conduct in-depth scientific research with(based on ) data from different languages in various branches of linguistics. Thus, the Department of Linguistics at King Saud University is an essential branch to studying language and related studies such as translation, as it contributes to the development of scientific and research knowledge, and enhances the university's position as a distinguished scientific center in this field. The diversity of their research interests distinguishes faculty members in the department, their scientific contributions represented in the dissemination of scientific research and active participation in conferences and seminars related to linguistics and related sciences. Some faculty members in the department also contributed to transferring knowledge of linguistics to the Arabic language by translating many valuable books in the field.
