The PhD Program in Applied Linguistics
Dating back to 1987, the graduate programs in Applied Linguistics at King Saud University are among the oldest and most distinguished graduate programs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The PhD Program in Applied Linguistics aims to achieve excellence in teaching and scientific research by providing an advanced academic environment that develops students’ knowledge and research competencies. The program prepares qualified academics and researchers capable of investigating issues in second language learning and teaching, addressing language-related problems through evidence-based research, and applying recent technological developments in language education and linguistic research. Graduates are equipped to conduct independent research, evaluate and develop language programs, teach Applied Linguistics at the university level, and supervise postgraduate research and theses.
