About the Department:

The French Language Program was established in 1397AH (1977AD) within the Center for European Languages and Translation (Celt) programs. The French language was taught as an optional course for students in all faculties of the university, where the system allows the selection of some courses outside the scope of specialization (ten credit hours). In 1411H (1991), the Bachelor of French Language program was introduced within the programs of the Department of European Languages and Translation, with the establishment of the Institute of Languages and Translation, which in 1415H (1995) turned into the College of Languages and Translation. Then, the program's name was changed to the French Language and Translation Program, which the Department of French Language and Translation provides. After restructuring the college, it was divided into four academic departments in the academic year 1432/1433AH. This program aims to prepare qualified translators in translation to and from French.
